Critical Illness

None of us know whether illness will strike. Lifestyle, genetics and sometimes pure chance can all play a role, affecting our ability to provide for ourselves or our family.

If you own, or have a share in a business, how would you cope should you or your business partner be unable to work?

Many of us will have experienced some form of illness, though most of us will have returned to work after only a few days. But what happens if your illness lasts longer?

Policies can give you a one off tax free lump sum if you are diagnosed with one of the serious illnesses that are covered by your insurance policy. This can be used to pay off your mortgage, pay someone to run your business for a period of time, provide you with an income or pay for medical care, amongst other things.

Critical illness cover can be taken on it’s own, or combined with life cover.

There are important differences between providers and policies and premiums can be either guaranteed or reviewable. They may offer child cover, partial payments for less severe illnesses, Critical Illness buyback and various other options.

If you are a business owner, then other forms of insurance cover may well be more appropriate. Please talk to us about your circumstances, and we would be happy to discuss the different types of cover available.

Subject to you personal circumstances and budget, Critical Illness cover may not actually be right for you. However, at Always Independent, we are happy to advise you regarding the suitability of policies, and also guide you through the range of options available for you and your circumstances.
